Hostel Sir Toby's
For the traveller who is intrigued in more than Prague's Old Town, Hostel Sir Toby's offers the finest hostel tradition in one of the city's much loved districts, which is generally off-the-beaten track for your everyday tourist. The district of Holesovice, situated within the loop of the Vltava River is an aesthetically pleasing part of town with a calm atmosphere boasting grid-iron avenues lined with towering trees.
Holesovice's industrial past is fascinatingly evident, which when combined with its booming residential and business sector makes for a delightful accommodation alternative to the more common tourist areas found beyond the opposite banks of the river.
Holesovice is cruelly charismatic and a great example for those who wish to experience real Czech everyday life. What's more, Sir Toby's is fantastically served by local amenities with many restaurants, supermarkets and countless bars and a tea house just moments away. Right beside the hostel itself are Lucky Luciano's Pizzeria and Pet Penez, both hugely popular with hostellers. A short walk will find you at the club Mecca or Cross Club, two of Prague's most popular nightlife venues where there is always a party!
A wander around the encompassing streets unlocks many more of Holesovice's secrets, such as the Prague Markets. Perched by the side of the river no more than five minutes walk from Sir Toby's, the market boasts huge quantities of fresh fruit and vegetables, and also many large second hand clothes warehouses, where you cannot walk away without a bargain.
Moreover, Holesovice is superbly served by transport with its own Nadrazi Holesovice 'C' line metro station, which doubles as one of Prague's main overland terminals from which you can travel throughout Central Europe. Conveniently, you will also find here the bus to Prague Zoo! Hostel Sir Toby's itself is better served by trams which stop only 100m away at 'Delnicka'.
From here you can catch the 1, 3, 5, 12, 15 and 25. In particular the numbers 3 and 5 whisk you into the Old Town within 10 minutes, servicing the Old and Jewish Towns, Vaclavske Namesti and main train station. For the active traveler, catching the number 12 one stop east to Libensky Most brings you to tennis courts and a golfing driving range. Number 12 in the opposite direction takes you along the Vltava riverside to Mala Strana where you can easily access the Prague Castle and Charles Bridge.
