Hotel 16 U Sv. Kateřiny
Leaning graciously on a reserved hill in Prague's New Town, Hotel 16 is a fantastic accommodation choice close to a large park and extensive transport links. Hidden on a declining gradient, reminiscent of Bristol's Park Row, Hotel 16 is tucked away from the hustle of inner-city living yet it is no more than a ten minute stroll from the fabulous Old Town, and a stone's throw from the banks of the Vltava River.
Alongside the Hotel are a number of tasteful ladies fashion boutiques, but this aside there are very few obvious services in the immediate surroundings. Head up the gradient and turn left onto U Nemocnice (literally 'at the hospital') and you will emerge outside an A&E entrance for one of Charles University's teaching hospitals. Carry on down this road to materialize at the far corner of Karlovo Namesti (Charles Square), a well known land mark throughout the city and host to a number of transport links.
Karlovo Namesti is less than 5 minutes from the hotel, where you will find banks, restaurants, shops and all services you need. Walk through to the opposite end of the square to approach the Old Town or turn left down Resslova Street to discover the river and the world famous Dancing Building, which shimmies along its banks.
Karlovo Namesti metro stop is on the 'B' or yellow line and also a number of trams trundle through the square, notably the 22 and 23, which both head up toward Prague Castle, a must-see landmark during your holiday, especially after dark.
