Hotel Kafka
Zizkov offers experiences for the traveller that no other part of Prague can. The sights and idiosyncratic smells of the Czech capital's alternative quarter are much cherished by the locals and a far cry from the supercilious splendour of the Old Town.
Zizkov is neither ugly, nor dangerous and it boasts many monuments and unique architecture of its own, yet much of the area remains somewhat unpolished, and it draws much comparison to London's Shoreditch. Comprising more pubs per square metre than any other part of the city it is favoured by style-free thrill seekers and young design professionals.
The Hotel is positioned on Cimburkova Street, close to the trams lines which serve the area and that can whisk you onwards into the centre of the city in under 10 minutes. Cimburkova connects the two main streets that run parallel through mid and lower Zizkov, Seifertova and Husitska respectively.
It is on Seifertova where you will find the majority of what you will need during your stay: a cashpoint, 24 hour grocers and off licenses, bakers and a deli. Furthermore, the tram stop Husinecka is a one minute walk away once you turn right out of Cimburkova. From here tram numbers 5, 9, and 26 all travel to the main train station in one minute, and the 9 continues onwards to Wenceslas Square in six minutes.
On Cimburkova, outside the hotel is a local police station and a cocktail bar, and there are many more bars and restaurants hidden away down the surrounding minor roads. Attack Zizkov's gradient to reach the upper part of Zizkov where the infamous Zizkov Tower soars (which has truly amazing views), and many more restaurants before Zizkov blends into the equally spectacular, yet more refined Vinohrady district.
